Players choose from six distinct heroes: Shadow, Mist, Void, Parasite, Abyss, and Reflection. Each hero features a unique starting deck, card selection, archetypes, and mechanics that radically change the way players face Noctiria. Combat involves building decks that change during every run, managing Mana, generating Shield, manipulating draws, and stacking effects to create synergies.

The game includes permanent progression systems where players upgrade their arsenal between descents. Players must manage Sanity and consumable relics. Resting after battles is a strategic decision; options include cautious recovery, deeper recovery with potential consequences, or skipping rest to upgrade a card.

Content Scope and Demo Access

The full version contains four acts, handcrafted branching maps, hundreds of deckbuilding possibilities, and a Corruption system. A free demo remains available on Steam, featuring the entire first act titled The Cursed Forest.

Combat Mechanics: Mana, Shield, and Draw Manipulation

The combat system in Noctiria relies on a deck that changes during every run. Players obtain new cards to create synergies while managing specific resources like Mana and generating Shield. The mechanics also allow players to manipulate their draws and stack effects capable of completely transforming the pace of combat.

Hero Distinctiveness and Status Effect Integration

The six playable heroes—Shadow, Mist, Void, Parasite, Abyss, and Reflection—are not simple variations of the same character. Each hero possesses a unique starting deck, card selection, archetypes, and mechanics that radically change how players face Noctiria.
